This is a GIUK scenario for 360's Harpoon. The soviets must get at
least four merchant ships to Lorient and keep them there for at least
2 hours and destroy Lorient to achieve minimum victory. The NATO
forces must prevent the soviets from succeeding in their invasion
attempt by destroying the merchant ships. The computer can play
either side. There are variable starting points for each force. This
scenario is fun but challenging for both sides (more difficult for
NATO I believe). Each force has advantages and disadvantages. You
will make the difference. Those of you who do not have the scenario
editor can run this scenario but you must have 'Harpoon' v 1.1 and
the North Atlantic Convoy Battleset. To load it select the NACV
battleset and any scenario within it. Once the selected scenario
loads and the unit and strategic map screen is up press altF1 and load
"Lorient". Enjoy! Any comments should be directed to me on CIS at
the Gamers Guild. My ID is 70137,501. The "situation" that follows
is only for fun as this section tells you everything you need to know
to play the game.

                             THE SITUATION

The war in Germany has turned into a stalemate and a stalemate creates
a NATO advantage. The Soviets have learned their military history
well and have decided to break the stalemate with an Inchon like
landing in France. England's air forces have been neutralized and
Keflavik is in the hands of the USSR. A successful invasion of the
west coast of France will draw the French out of Germany and give the
Soviets the numerical superiority they need there to achieve the
necessary breakthrough and end the war in the USSR's favor. If NATO
can prevent this assault then NATO's superior economic systems will
eventually wear down the Soviet military machine concluding the war
with a NATO victory. The Soviets have assigned a SAG to escort the
merchant ships carrying their troops. Submarine forces have been
assigned along with various tactical and strategic air units to
support the invasion force. NATO has a French ASW group, some Spanish
Frigates and a Carrier Battle Group along with various air units to
stop the invasion.
